Special Education – Half-Time Faculty

The Education Department at Cedar Crest College invites applications for a half-time faculty member to teach, mentor, and advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Special Education. This is a half-time, residential (on-campus) faculty position, with renewable, 12-month annual appointments, residency appointment beginning with the fall 2025 semester.
The selected candidate’s instructional focus will be Special Education. In addition, the candidate will:
Deliver engaging, effective instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual learning environments. The primary instructional focus is Special Education.
Develop and maintain effective course curriculum and assessments aligned with program objectives, Pennsylvania Department of Education standards and competencies, and the College’s Mission.
Utilize technology effectively to create engaging and interactive face-to-face and online learning experiences.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
Engage in service to the department and college commensurate with a half-time faculty position.
Engage in academic research commensurate with a half-time faculty position.
Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five-years experience as a practicing Special Education professional in a K-12 school district or related education agency setting and an earned master’s degree in special education or related education field. A doctoral degree in Special Education or a related education field is preferred.
Other key qualifications include:
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to analyze and apply assessment data to improve instruction.
Ability to develop and implement instructional strategies for learners.
Proficiency in instructional technology and online learning management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
