This position serves as part of the leadership team for the Office of Special Education, which is accountable for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as related to students with disabilities in the organization. The work involves exercise of judgement, accountability, and discretion.?This position shall be responsible, under limited supervision, to perform supervisory responsibilities in support of schools to ensure training, understanding, and implementation of IEP processes related to the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities.?Participates in special projects as directed by management with a heavy emphasis on proactive strategies to prevent dispute resolution and provide supports to schools and staff.

Essential Responsibilities Specific to this Job:
•
Provides professional development and resources in special education and Section 504, program components, and delivery models to all school-based personnel
•
Develops, coordinates, and evaluates special education programs and services
•
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, review, and revise Procedural Support and Guidance Manual, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and best practices document;
•
Plans and facilitates professional development opportunities for staff
•
Works with teachers, support staff, and building administrator to identify and meet needs
•
Develops and maintains a system of cataloged procedural resources for all staff;
•
Supports schools with navigating challenging situations;
•
Collaborates with the Supervisor for Dispute Resolution to identify trends and implement Corrective Action Plans (CAP) and agreements;
•
Presents with the PRC for family training opportunities
•
Attends IEP and Section 504 meetings as needed;
•
Coordinates customized trainings for schools/clusters based on requests or identified needs; and
•
Proactively identifies areas of need and develops a plan to address concerns
•
Thorough knowledge of school system policies and regulations as well as principles and practices of public-school administration.
•
Advanced knowledge of both federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to special education.
•
Understanding of confidentiality, privilege and ethical principles.
•
Considerable experience resolving disputes, drafting responses to state complaints, and facilitating mediations with parents of students with disabilities.

Ability to prioritize tasks with competing deadlines.
•
Ability to work under pressure and make decisions.
•
Ability to effectively and clearly communicate orally and in writing to large and small groups, as well as individuals.
