The Explorer Academy Elementary School Principal will work in collaboration with the Director of Special Education and Associate Superintendents in the overall administration of instructional program and site operations including the implementation and enforcement of school board policies, and administrative rules and regulations. It provides instructional and organizational leadership to staff including curriculum planning and implementation, professional development, and evaluation and supervision. Coordinates assigned student activities and services to provide the best possible learning environment for all students. Provides staff with accurate and timely processes and procedures as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities in Special Education Act (IDEA). Acts as Local Education Representative (LEA) at IDEA procedural meetings. Manages effective use of support staff (office staff and paraprofessional staff). Must work cooperatively with the staff, community and District Administration in support of school and district-wide goals and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of three years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience.
Valid ND Teaching Certificate and Administrator Certificate with a level EP01 Elementary Principal Credential.
Positions in this classification require the use of a personal automobile and possession of a valid Class C North Dakota driver’s license or equivalate valid driver’s license by another state.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Experience communicating, formally and informally, both orally and in writing with diverse audiences; familiarity presenting information and responding to questions from groups, staff, parents and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications
An advanced understanding of curriculum development, monitoring, and revision.
Advanced knowledge of Special Education laws, regulations and guidelines.
Working knowledge of school finance, tuition billing, and care and treatment programs.
Demonstrated organizational, management, and communication skills.
Experience and knowledge in staff development, including effective instruction.
