The Academy teacher will serve students, grades 6 through 12, who have moderate learning needs, such as those diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities. The Academy teacher will provide direct academic and social/emotional/behavioral instruction in self-contained and mainstreamed settings. Additionally, the teacher will be responsible for collaborating with teaching faculty, departmental teams, administration to implement appropriate programming through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) including development of learning goals, assessment, progress monitoring, and communicating information and strategies to parents and school staff.
Successful completion of a teaching degree in special education or equivalent
Three or more years successful experience as a special education or learning support teacher in a school setting
Experience and desire to work with middle and high school aged students with moderate learning and developmental needs
