University Of West Florida Faculty Assistant Professor 105220 Department Of Teacher Education And Educational Leadership Tenure-Track Position
The University of West Florida Department of Teacher Education and Educational Leadership (TEEL) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Education This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) nine- month, tenure-earning position.
Candidates will be expected to teach classes in both online and face to face formats to graduate and undergraduate teacher education candidates. Serve on university, college, and department committees, and participate in community engagement activities aligned to the department’s priorities and consistent with partnership of local school districts.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Education, Teacher Education, or closely related doctoral degree/discipline from an accredited institution with documented expertise in Special Education, must hold or have held state certification/licensure in education, and must have a minimum of three years of experience as a K-12 teacher serving students with disabilities. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching, high-impact teaching practices with the ability to conduct research and publish consistent with an identifiable emerging or established research agenda.
Note: ABDs will be considered if all requirements for the doctorate degree are completed by the start date.
Desired Qualifications – Candidates should have the following:
Competencies necessary to design, develop, and teach innovative online and face to face courses dealing with methods and assessment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
In-depth knowledge of: High Impact Practices/ evidence-based teaching as well as student independence, inclusive, strength-based philosophical orientation to teaching students with disabilities, diverse populations, and research methods; and knowledge of related professional literature.
Demonstrated ability to work with on campus colleagues as well as within professional groups nationally and within the state/region to promote the development of department excellence and personal professional growth.
Commitment to grantsmanship and purposeful mentoring of students.
Participation on Doctoral level comprehensive exam and dissertation committees, and active mentoring.
