Position Summary: This position is a tenure-track Special Education position at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate special education courses in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, as well as effectively conduct practicum and student teaching supervision responsibilities. Some teaching off campus at regional extension sites and/or by other distance education methods may be required. In addition, the candidate will advise undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates will also be expected to engage in scholarly and service activity. Successful candidates must demonstrate knowledge of current evidence-based practices and data-based decision making (SDI and SAS, assessment, eligibility, IEP development, behavior strategies, and assistive technology).
Kentucky certification not required but preferred.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Special Education from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution. ABD candidates will be considered but degree completion must be guaranteed by the time of employment. A minimum of three years of professional experience teaching special education in public school settings and/or. Candidates with specialization in moderate/severe disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.
Desired Qualifications: Experience working with students with a range of disabilities including specific learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, autism, DHH, or mild/moderate intellectual disabilities. Experience in assessments and assistive technology is preferred.
