Position Summary: Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Specialist Professor in the department of Special Education. This opening is for the 2020-2021 academic year and is a two-year initial appointment subject to subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit. The candidate would be expected to: teach Special Education methods and content courses in the School of Education. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in a learner-centered environment, academic advisement, scholarly activity, and service to the University and community. We are seeking an outstanding teacher/scholar whose experience, scholarship, and teaching will complement our current faculty. Special Education programs at Monmouth University include undergraduate endorsements and a variety of graduate endorsements and degrees. Faculty in Special Education are expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to revise and expand courses and programs, to be involved in the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation process, and to work closely with partnership school districts. The Special Education programs are housed in the Department of Special Education. Monmouth University's Department of Special Education focuses on preparing students to excel as teachers in all learning environments. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their expertise and passion for innovative teaching. Required Degree, License or Certifications: Master's degree
Required Skills or Software: Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Required Years of Experience:
Other Requirements: Master’s degree in education or related field. Current New Jersey Certified Learning Disabilities Consultant (LDTC) or Nationally Certified School Psychologist certification.
Experience using a wide array of standardized academic assessments.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching on-line courses, and revising programs and syllabi based upon State of NJ Standards. Public school experience as a teacher of students with disabilities. Experience administering Woodcock-Johnson Achievement and Cognitive batteries. Experience administering Pre-school Disabled Student Assessment.
