Mansfield University's Department of Education and Special Education is seeking two full-time tenure-track Special Education faculty members to join the growing undergraduate and graduate programs at Mansfield University. Each successful candidate will take a primary role in providing instruction and supervision using research and pedagogical best practices, student advisement, recruitment, and other duties that will enhance the department and university. This position is being offered at the rank of assistant professor with a starting salary commensurate with experience.
Each teaching assignment may include both undergraduate and graduate courses specifically focused in Special Education. The successful candidates will work closely with public schools and education agencies; regularly supervise field experiences; advise undergraduate and graduate students as needed; assist in program curricular updates and the accreditation process; and participate in department, professional unit, and university committees. The successful candidates are expected to teach effectively and advise a diverse student population, engage in ongoing research and other discipline-related scholarly activities, and make professional and university service contributions. Demonstrated achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service is required for tenure and promotion.
Essential Functions: Effective and enthusiastic teaching and advising for a diverse audience; timely and fair grading of projects, assignments, quizzes, exams and other assessments; effective communication (i.e., verbal and written); ongoing use of current and upcoming digital teaching technology; work professionally and cooperatively with university staff, faculty, and administration; and have the ability to travel to off-site field experiences.
Earned doctorate or ABD from a regionally accredited institution in Special Education or related field.
At least three years of successful full-time work experience in K-12 public schools in Special Education.
State-issued teaching certification in Special Education.
Effective college-level teaching experience, including supervising field experiences.
Experience teaching online, including graduate education courses, successfully.
Experience teaching students with communication disorders and/or students who are English Language Learners.
