The Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Executive Director to lead the organization into the future. The Executive Director of CASE oversees all operations, functions, and activities of CASE and will be the face of the organization, responsible for giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high-quality vision. A skillful Executive Director will manage and lead the organization towards the realization of its mission through the following:
Visionary Planning through collaborating with others, having a passion for the continuous improvement of the organization, and identifying the need for systemic change.
Development of partnerships resulting in recognition of the organization as a provider of high-quality professional development, a knowledgeable voice in policy development and seen as a partner with the many agencies and entities connected to CASE and special education leadership.
Informing policy in special education and education more broadly by uniting the voices of local leaders to create positive change.
Fiscal Planning and Budget Management to sustain and grow the organization.
Leading leaders and exemplifying quality association leadership on behalf of CASE and its subdivisions.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following:
Advanced Degree with a preference for an EdD or PhD: The area of focus is preferred to be aligned with the desired outcomes and vision of CASE. Must be willing to learn about Association Management if no background in that area.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex scientific, educational and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to management, public/partner groups/associations, and subdivision units at board and member levels.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills and Experience: Experience and proficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs required. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Experience with web applications and use and manage of a website preferred.
Reasoning Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply those principles of logic and/or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including association members, government officials, students, faculty, administrators, parents, and representatives of other outside organizations. Ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and outside agencies. Ability to effectively handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts

Additional Salary Information: This position requires a great deal of travel. All travel will be paid by the organization as well as several professional organizational dues and other negotiables. It should be noted this is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit.
