The School Board of Philip J. Rock Center and School seeks an outstanding CEO/Executive Director to oversee the day to day operation of the center and the state-wide service center serving deaf-blind students in the 3 -21 age groups. The school currently houses and educates eight deaf-blind students but has the capacity to house and educate twenty-five.
The Philip J. Rock Center and School serves two distinct functions in providing services to individuals who are deaf-blind. Services are provided in schools, medical settings, early intervention centers and homes. The combined Center and School concept makes possible a program which provides a continuum of services to children who are deaf-blind and their families, as well as limited services to the adults who are deaf-blind.
Successful and significant administrative experience in a public setting required
Advanced degree in public administration, education or related field required
Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and work collaboratively with staff, parents, and caretakers
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders and coordinate the interests of children and families served by the Center and School, their home school districts, as well as school districts across the state of Illinois, the Illinois State Board of Education and key federal agencies which provide funding
Demonstrated knowledge of rules and regulations governing Special Education programming
The ability to effectively direct a 12-month residential program for children who are deaf-blind ages 3-21
A child and community centered leader, empathetic to the needs of multiply handicapped children
