The Delaware County Intermediate Unit seeks an Assistant to the Executive Director for Student Services.
The Assistant to the Executive Director for Student Services will assist the Executive Director in the day-to-day administration of Intermediate Unit programs operated under the policies established by the Board of Directors and governed by state and federal laws, regulations, and standards using effective organizational and communications skills.
This position is expected to provide leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive system of student auxiliary and specialized services and program, special education, nonpublic school services, pupil services, early childhood education, and other niche services to ensure DCIU is on the cutting edge of programming. Furthermore, this position needs to ensure there are proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, financial controls of budgets, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization.
Entrepreneurialism is key to this position as Intermediate Units are service organizations and must evolve based on the needs of stakeholders.
The ideal person will be able to collaborate with and assist the Executive Director in the administration and leadership of programs and services under his/her charge including oversight of fiscal and personnel matters.
This position will be responsible for building internal and external partnerships with DCIU programs and initiatives by maintaining relationships with the public and non-public schools of Delaware County but revising current and developing grant proposals to secure funding for new services and programs offered by the Intermediate Unit.
Will be expected to participate in, chair and oversee required activities of district meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive educational administrative experience; experience in education including pupil services and curriculum and instruction; expertise with oversight of administration and staff; responsibility for large scale budgets; frequent interactions with board, customers and stakeholders.
Required Certification: Supervisor of Pupil Services or Special Education Supervisor Certification required; Letter of Eligibility and Principal Certification preferred.

DCIU serves more than 70,000 school-aged students and more than 6,000 educators on a regional basis. Direct instruction is provided to more than 15,000 students enrolled in DCIU’s Special Programs, Career and Technical Education and specialized programs.
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit is one of Pennsylvania’s 29 regional educational agencies. Established in 1970 by the State Legislature, IUs were charged with providing services in seven areas: curriculum development and instructional improvement; educational planning services; instructional materials services (technology); continuing professional development; pupil personnel services; management services; and, state and federal agency liaison services.
