To coordinate and implement academic accommodations for students with disabilities attending Flagler College.
Responds to requests for information from prospective students and their parents on College-approved academic accommodations for students with disabilities.
Collects, maintains, and reviews documentation of disabilities provided by students.
Obtains written authorization to share information regarding their disabilities from students who register with the Office for Students with Disabilities.
Communicates with instructors regarding the special needs of students with disabilities who are enrolled in their classes.
Communicates with appropriate College staff regarding the special needs of students with disabilities who are registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities.
Coordinates provision of services associated with academic accommodations for students with disabilities including the hiring of interpreters, and assignment of readers, notetakers, and other academic support services.
Coordinates arrangement for administration of tests and exams for students eligible for extended time, testing in a distraction-free environment, other special accommodations.
Coordinates the schedules of contracted interpreters; may also serve as interpreter for prospective students in the admissions process and for deaf students’ meetings with faculty and/or administrators. May serve as a substitute interpreter if a scheduled classroom interpreter is unavailable.
Develops and maintains database including pertinent information on students registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities.
Maintains files and records of student contacts for students registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities.
Hires and arranges payment for interpreters for College special events and Commencement services.
Reads, files, and disseminates information on ADA compliance-related issues.
Maintains list of area professionals offering diagnostic services for students who wish to be tested to determine the presence of a learning disability.
Maintains list of qualified tutors for students and/or parents requesting this service.
Collects information regarding new developments in assistive technology for students with disabilities.
Minimum Requirement: Master’s degree in related field
Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with College policy
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to work without close supervision and to make proper independent decisions
