Flagler College is seeking an adjunct professor to teach two Master’s level online courses in the area of Severe and Profound Disabilities. Each course is 8 weeks in length. Courses are offered through the use of the Canvas LMS system and may involve the use of video supervision through Edthena. The courses to be taught include:
ESE 550 - Collaboration for the Low Incidence Population
In this 3 credit course students will learn interdisciplinary teaming strategies for teaching individuals with severe and profound disabilities, to include: identifying and utilizing available resources, recognizing the role of parents, teachers, and other professionals and incorporating them into the treatment and instructional team; employing a functional community-based curriculum, teaching employability skills; and transition planning for post school life.
This course will be offered February 27 – April 22, 2018.
ESE 555 – Practicum in working with Students with Severe and Profound Disabilities
In this 3 credit course students will complete three semester hours of supervised field-based experience with students who are severely or profoundly disabled with particular focus on teaching and learning in school and community settings. This is a practicum-based course that is taught online in conjunction with an on-site location in St. Augustine or in your community. Through participation and practicum assignments, instructor and supervising teacher feedback, and interaction in special needs classrooms, students will learn how to teach children and youth with severe/profound disabilities.
This course will be offered April 24- June 9, 2018.
Interested candidates should have at least a Master’s Degree (doctorate is preferred) from a regionally accredited institution and have experience in the online teaching environment. Applications will be accepted until an instructor is identified.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Pay is $2958 per course per term.
