Texas A & M – Commerce anticipates one tenure-track Assistant Professor position with responsibilities in support of our undergraduate Special Education major as well as graduate offerings in our Special Education program beginning Fall 2018. Individuals must have a PhD or EdD in Special Education or a closely related field. Preference will be given to individuals with a strong program of research and teaching experience. Experience in supervision of all-level field based practicum and internship students is preferred. Experience in obtaining external funding is also highly desirable.
Primary responsibilities include:
Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in Special Education • Advising students • Developing a scholarly agenda of research activities that culminate in publication in scholarly journals and professional presentations • Designing, implementing, and publishing research • Preparing syllabi • Updating course materials • Developing curriculum • Pursuing extramural funding • Providing service to the department, university and the profession • Continual learning to stay current with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching. • Delivery of instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday • Working collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs

The Department of Psychology, Counseling, & Special Education at Texas A & M – Commerce has 34 full-time faculty, a like number of adjuncts, and a strong cadre of graduate and undergraduate students.
